So close so close so close.
Honestly, I wish I could say that I am incredibly excited. There is a lot more trepidation here than excitement though. I am not sure if that is my own reaction, or because I have spent a lot of time around people I love who are really sad that I am leaving. It is very hard to be excited for myself when I am completely surrounded by their upset.
On the other hand. I also found a picture of my dorm. It looks ... cozy?

Okay, that bed made me a little more worried when I first saw it. I don't deny it! I am a happy spoiled American! I enjoy my creature comforts, my big plushy bed with down comforter and a soft place to sit while I type this.
It will be okay though. I have a giant elephant pillow that Katie got me to dress up the place. I was going to post pictures of it here, but BOTH of my camera batteries are dead. Oops. Will take pictures of Twinkle (the elephant) and my luggage later on.
Oh, Dayl gathered some pictures of friends and printed them off for me too. That will be nice.
I leave on Saturday, and I sent a message to the other girl in the program to ask her if she has time for a phone call or a skype chat. I hope we can meet up at the airport before we get on our long flight.
I got a quick itinerary for my first week! It is really nice to have an idea of what to expect :).
( Plans for my first week! )
Oh yeah. Get this. I bought two plug adapters months and month ago annnd ... they're nowhere to be found. Nowhere. Searched all over the place and can't find them. So now I have to decide if I want to go buy a new one to take with me, or Sumana (my on-site adviser) says she has some there and I will have one by Monday morning. To bring my own or get one there?
Other than all that, I am spending these last couple of days very low-key. There is a book and a video game I want to finish, and just generally be at home. I like home.

So there are a million reasons why I love theatre. I'm not even going to attempt to list them for you. I will, however, point out one right now. There are times when a play makes you feel. Really truly feel. Sick, disgusted, happy, fearful, hopeful... anything... something intense. There's a line in Love and Money that gets me every time:
"There is no language that can express- this stuff is pouring out of me- that can express how I feel about him, which is why I have to fuck him because it's the closest I can get to telling him how I feel about him." -Dennis Kelly
I just thought I'd share 'cause it's opening night and I keep thinking that every time I hear it.
Dear LJ friends, how's life?
So, I was on
project rungay reading about the upcoming season's designers, when I discovered that one designer's fall 2008 collection features not one but TWO C9 models!

Specifically seeking: females, 16 or older, from somewhere other than Nevada, someone who likes what I like--maybe a little different, someone dedicated to penpaling.
Prefer long, medium or short letters?: I guess it really depends... Medium?
How many pen pals do you want?: At the moment, 1-3.
Do you trade fbs/decos/slams/atc cards?: Sure.
International or local penpals?: Within the U.S would be best
Anything else?: Don't be fooled by my age--I'm quite mature for a sixteen year old. I really don't like Twilight, so if you do, take caution. I prefer to handwrite, since my printer's broken, and simply because it feels more personal, you know? And hoping to keep things as offline as possible. Also looking to trade things, like knick-knacks, candies, creations, etc.
If you'd like to write each other, I guess you could comment here or email me directly.

Deserted
I live under a rock,
As big as the sky.
Where all the people flock
To watch me cry.
Mounting the steed,
That brought me here.
A painstaking deed,
That fills me with fear.
Feeling the stab,
Of the knife in my back.
People who blab,
Their conscious does lack.
My rock does leak,
With the air of my breath.
What kind of freak,
Should suffer this death?
Languishing now,
And closing my eyes.
With the heart of a cow,
But the brain of a fly.
